Elk Rocks Guide

Elk rocks is anice sandstone area near Dunbar, PA. The area is very small and hosts only a few climbers but due to its proximity to Krahlick Rocks and Coll’s Cove and Cow Rock. The area is a fine accompaniment to an afternoon at any of these areas. There are also a few good boulders with problems ranging from V0- to V6. Shuts are located on top of October. This area was primarily developed by Tim Anderson and Scott Richards in the mid to late-90s.

Directions. Follow the signs along Dunbar Creek heading towards Ohiopyle. After about 2.8mi of driving drive up a steep hill. Make a left at a sharp turn onto Kingham Hill Road. Pass a sign for Camp Carmel (Note: if you make a right here you will end up a Krahlick Rocks). Continue past an old iron furnace on your left, continue straight down the hill to a stream. Drive through the stream and follow the road approximately 1.5 miles to the rocks.
